Modern Plant Stands

What started as a single plant stand for personal use developed into a small series built around the same simple design. The three versions keep the same overall form but vary in size and wood species, showing how the proportions and character change from black walnut to heartwood beech and oak.

01 — SIZE XS

BLACK WALNUT

The smallest version of the series is made from black walnut and measures 355 mm high by 225 mm wide. Its compact proportions make the stand feel especially light, while the dark walnut gives the simple form a strong presence. Despite the smaller scale, it follows the same geometry and construction as the larger versions.

02 — SIZE S

HEARTWOOD BEECH

The small version is made from heartwood beech, chosen for its pronounced grain and strong variation in colour. At 375 mm high and 250 mm wide, it sits between the walnut and oak versions in scale. The more expressive wood gives the otherwise restrained design a noticeably different character without changing the underlying form.

03 — SIZE M

OAK

The medium version is made from oak and measures 425 mm high by 270 mm wide. Its larger proportions give the design more presence while keeping the same overall geometry as the smaller stands. The lighter appearance of the oak puts greater emphasis on the shape itself and makes this version the most neutral of the three.

04 — THE SERIES

ONE DESIGN, THREE SCALES

Shown together, the three stands highlight how the same design works across different sizes and wood species. The proportions, geometry and construction remain consistent, while walnut, heartwood beech and oak each give the form a different character. The series became less about creating three separate pieces and more about exploring how one simple design changes through scale and material.
