Custom Furniture
Sometimes an off-the-shelf piece simply doesn’t fit. Because of the space, the proportions, the function or because you have something more individual in mind.
That’s where custom furniture comes in.
I design and build one-off pieces from my workshop in Switzerland, with a strong focus on solid wood, clean contemporary forms and thoughtful details. Whether you are looking for a side table, cabinet, bench, statement piece or something completely different, I’m always interested in projects that start with a specific idea, space or challenge.
Every commission is developed individually. The final price depends on the size and complexity of the piece, the materials used and the amount of work involved. Custom furniture does not necessarily mean starting with an extravagant budget — often, a clear brief and a considered design are much more important.
Commissioning a piece should also be a collaborative process. You will be involved from the first idea through to the final design.
1. The Brief
It starts with your idea.
You can tell me what you are looking for, where the piece will be used and what matters most to you. Dimensions, function, preferred materials, design direction, budget and timing can all be discussed at this stage.
You don’t need to arrive with a finished design. A few reference images, a sketch or even just a description of what you need is enough to start.
2. The Design
Based on the brief, I develop the design and work through the proportions, materials, construction and details.
Depending on the project, I may use sketches, technical drawings or 3D models to show you how the piece will look before anything is built.
This is an iterative process. We can refine the design together until the proportions, details and overall direction feel right.
3. The Build
Once the final design, specification and price have been agreed, I prepare the project for production.
A 50% deposit confirms the commission and allows me to order materials and begin the build.
I document much of my work in the workshop, so depending on the project you may also get a look behind the scenes as your piece takes shape.
Once the piece is complete, the remaining balance is due and we arrange collection or delivery.
4. Care & Aftercare
I want the pieces I build to be used for many years.
When your furniture is finished, I will provide guidance on how to care for the wood and finish so that it continues to age well over time.
If you ever have a question about maintenance, refinishing or the piece itself, you are always welcome to get in touch.
