Vienna | A Side Table with Timeless Character

Inspired by traditional craftsmanship and shaped by contemporary design, Vienna is a distinctive side table where every detail has a purpose.

The round tabletop immediately draws the eye with its carefully arranged sunburst veneer in ash. Radiating from the centre, the individual veneer sections create a refined geometric pattern that highlights the natural grain and subtle variations of the wood. The underside is finished with a regular ash veneer, while the core is made from blockboard, providing a stable foundation for the veneered surfaces.

Framing the tabletop is a substantial solid ash ring, carefully crafted to complement the sunburst pattern and give the table its characteristic sculpted edge. The elegantly curved legs are also made from solid ash and stained black, creating a bold contrast against the light natural tones of the tabletop.

Below, a second solid ash ring forms the lower shelf and surrounds a panel of traditional Viennese cane webbing – the detail that gives Vienna its name. Along the end-grain mitre joints of the shelf ring, carefully fitted bow-tie inlays reinforce the construction while turning a traditional woodworking technique into a subtle decorative feature.

From the precisely matched veneer to the solid ash construction and carefully reinforced joinery, Vienna celebrates the details that make handcrafted furniture unique.
